Ad History

I have published multiple books (and some articles) that deal with history of the advertising field. This section is about sharing updates, corrections, photos and more about that history.

A History of Advertising: The First 300,000 Years

Errata

No book is perfect. The following are errors that have been discovered:

Page 171 – The so-called “Big Bang” was in 1986 not 1982.

Page 216 – The table was messed up.  Omnicom Group incorrectly appears to be under WPP, but Omnicom was one of the large parents – and should appear equal to WPP, not a part of it.

Page 301 – The term “direct marketing” is accredited to Lester Wunderman in 1958. Then on Page 336 it says Wunderman created the term in 1967. The truth, according to Wunderman, is that he first coined the term in 1961 (in his book Being Direct, Page 162).

These errors have been corrected in the Paperback version.
